Hall of Fame Events took place on Friday, September 27. The public was invited to attend the Alumni Association Awards Ceremony at 9:00 am in the Mount Vernon High School Gym. Following the ceremony, a Reception was held in the High School Library. In addition to our 5 recipients, members of the 1957 Fall Football Team, 'The Black Shirted Powerhouse' were honored. This included 1958 classmates Robert 'Bob' Kruse, Robert 'Bob' Lenz, Bruce Mullen, and Harold Clements.
There was no pep rally, and the Homecoming game was moved to Thursday night after the parade and coronation due to bad weather coming in on Friday. It was a beautiful fall evening and included presentation of Alumni Award Winners during halftime at the Football Field, and the All-Alumni-Community Reception ‘Tailgating Under The Tent’ at the top of the bleachers. The Mustangs won over West Liberty. The Alumni-Community Reception tent was open from approximately 6 pm until after the game.
Friday evening, September 27 was the President’s Hall of Fame Reception. In addition, student events included the Thursday evening Parade and Crowning of the Homecoming Queen and King and their Saturday Homecoming Dance. Their powderpuff game was held at a later date.
